Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness. Mark skipping heart events?

what does it mean when mark has a green heart? he has 6 hearts on the heart gauge but for some reason, he's skipping heart events. the last one he has was the boulder pushing contest, but he has a green heart now. he skipped blue heart event number 2! why?
