Since when have words like "Please", "Thank You" and "Excuse me" become obsolete?

I too am 23. Work in retail. Take public transportation so i'm out there all the time, and I actually hear those a lot more than i ever thought i would. It could just really depend on where you are living. I do wish i heard it more. I blame bad upbringing.
