Hey people, I am 24 and, 250 lbs and 6"2. I want to drop to 220. Please help me with a workout routine please.

I want to lose 30 pounds and get ripped. I joined a gym, although I am very athletic, I play bball and all but I need some workout routine to get ripped. I've seen people doing it in few months. My goal is to do it by november 2008. Any suggestions please, also do you recommend any diet, anything that will help me reach my goal. I have the desire of doing it but just need a lil boost from some of you guys. I just signed up for a gym membership but quiet frankly I get bored after a while because I don't know what I am doing. So please help me
